The Double is incredibly fast-paced. In the space of a few minutes, the second movie by actor Richard Ayoade (Submarine) plunges into an extraordinary universe, with an amazingly detailed set, an extremely rich soundtrack and magnificent directing. There is Kafka and Terry Gilliam’s Brazil in this tragic farce adapted from the book by Dostoyevsky, which confirms the talents of the excellent Jesse Eisenberg. The only downside: the script, which seems too easy when compared with the richness of the universe and can’t keep pace with its strong beginning.
