A bad review from a renowned critic, an inappropriate tweet that trends and turns into a media catastrophe, and acclaimed chef Carl Casper see his comfortable life turned upside down. Now unemployed, he lets himself be convinced by his ex-wife to come with her to Miami and follow his dream of cooking whatever he wants – from a food truck. Helped by a former employee and his own son, who is desperately trying to reconnect with his father, he goes on the road to rediscover his passion for food and life…

Although Jon Favreau strays from his usual path of big-budget Hollywood, he takes the recipe with him, as well as a little spice in the form of cameos by both Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr., whom he directed in Iron Man 2. The director of Cowboys and Aliens directs and stars in this soppy feel-good movie that cooks up grand theories about life that are as obvious as sugar in dessert. An elogy to the simple life, family honesty and friendship, with a side serving of social networks in all their forms. Cute and very insignifiant.
