Elle l'adore
Muriel has been fascinated with singing star Vincent Lacroix forever. She goes to all his concerts, watches every show he’s on and buys whatever he sells. One evening, the distraught star knocks on her door: he has accidentally killed his wife and wants Muriel to help him get rid of the body. Gobsmacked, Muriel accepts without hesitation, without realizing what lies in store for her.
It’s hard to classify Elle l’adore, the first movie by Jeanne Henry, daughter of Miou-Miou, as it is parts noire comedy, psychological drama, thriller and study of manners. An aspect that gives this surreal fable, which is reminiscent of Woddy Allen’s excellent Match Point, an undeniable force, thanks to wonderful dialogue and carefully crafted supporting characters. Sandrine Kiberlain’s hilarious and touching performance as the beautiful, nutty heroine who learns to stop dreaming and become a free woman is impeccable.
