L'enfance retrouvée - Les petites familles
L'enfance retrouvée: Les petites familles, refers to the foster homes set up in the Bernese Jura, in homes of couples who already have children of their own and take in orphans. This documentary is made up of interviews with these foster parents and the children themselves, as well as with former foster children. The resulting look is uncompromising and if necessary critical.
This new documentary by Lucienne Lanaz looks at particular Swiss foster homes, against a backdrop of the necessity of every child to be able to grow up in a healthy, structured and protected setting. Lanaz’ camera investigates parents who decide to open their homes to children without parents of their own, and interviews former foster children who grew up in these homes. With archival footage, and interviews with several generations, the documentary leaves a social and human mark in a world well on its way to losing its humanity. A movie that shows the other side of a story that is often negative, it tells of successful and happy childhoods.
