Les Musées du Vatican (3D)
A unique and spectacular visit to the secrets of the Vatican, one of the most mysterious places in the world. From Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel and la Pietà, the Raphael Rooms and Fontana’s modern sculptures, to the painting of Giotto and the marvels of Leonardo da Vinci, this film offers a 3D voyage through 2,000 years of art history in the Vatican Museums.
Like today’s blockbuster hopefuls in constant search of more commercial success, this documentary adds 3D for more attention. The Vatican Museums praises itself for using cutting-edge technology by citing movies by James Cameron and Tim Burton as references. A way just like any other to sell one’s wares, at the same time admitting the limits of a cinematic guided visit to the Vatican’s enormous collection, which is stuffed with paintings, sculptures and immeasurable wealth. The documentary therefore has no other ambition other than giving audiences a look at masterpieces filmed for the first time using HD 4K cameras, in impressively high definition. A look that lasts just over an hour, no more.
