The tranquility of the small town of Bollersdorf is disturbed by a large-scale study on consumerism. A variety of harebrained new products are offered to adults, considered to be ordinary enough to serve as a point of reference to understand social behavior. But Bollersdorf is not ordinary at all, and the children decide to sabotage the study and get their village back on track…

An explosion of color and ideas make this story a magic fable, centered on a group of crafty kids out to fight against a society that is too restrictive. Its bold images outdo even the French movies Le Petit Nicolas and Ducobu. Obviously inspired by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Michel Gondry, German director Veit Helmer demonstrates a real talent for this kind expressionistic style, thanks to his joyful artistic direction. On the other hand, Quatsch und die Nasenbärbande barely offers the audience a breather in between the excitement, resulting in a kind of visual sugar rush. Bu that doesn’t make it less funny and likeable, both for kids reveling in its happy world and adults who enjoy a well turned out film.
