Detroit, 2028: policeman Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) is severely troubled by the ever-increasing violence in his hometown. But he believes in the good of mankind and is sure that crime will be stamped out one day. Then Murphy is the victim of an attack, in which he suffers life-threatening injuries. The conglomerate OmniCorp steps in to help: Dr. Dennett Norton (Gary Oldman) turns Alex into a prototype for a new supercop, called RoboCop. But Alex soon discovers he still has a human side.

1987's RoboCop was a trashy, satirical action flick that soon became a cult hit. In this remake, Tropa de Elite director José Padilha tones down the main character's violence, leaving room for a political message. The result is a cohesive, strongly cast, visually compelling sci-fi utopia movie that dusts off the cyborg legend, giving it a fresh, new life.
