Sex Tape
After ten years of marriage, two children, two careers and one house, passion has been replaced by routine in the life of Jay and Annie. So she decides to organize a hot night for the two of them to reignite the flame. They get their iPad going and make a sex tape, sure that this will stir things up. But the next day, they realize to their horror that they’ve shared the video with all their friends and acquaintances by mistake, thanks to a technical feature that can’t be undone. So they set about trying to get all the copies back …
With a few notable exceptions, the filmography of Cameron Diaz (who indubitably has comedic talent) can be divided into good or bad comedies. Sex Tape belongs to the second category, along with other mediocrities like Gambit and What to Expect When You’re Expecting. The draw here is supposed to be getting the two stars of Bad Teacher, another politically incorrect movie, back together. But Sex Tape keeps to the usual bits of the genre, incapable of getting past its funny initial premise or becoming something better due to some dumb plot twists. Caught between cheap vulgarity and a barely camouflaged add for Apple, the sad misadventures of this plastic couple turn into the worst thing that could happen to a Hollywood product – a boring movie, pure and simple.
