Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

Movie Rating: Hela Khamarou

Ten years after the original, Frank Miller returns with Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, co-directed by Robert Rodriguez. Dwight McCarthy (Josh Brolin) finds Ava Lord (Eva Green) again, with whom he is still madly in love despite that fact that she betrayed him by marrying a rich businessman. Ava is in trouble; her husband beats her. She asks Dwight for help and says she still loves him. Dwight immediately runs to her side, helped by his buddy Marv. Meanwhile, the pretty Nancy (Jessica Alba) has changed greatly; she’s become harder, battling her own demons and seeking revenge on the love of her life, John Hartigan (Bruce Willis). Yet another night full of fights, murder, betrayal, love and vengeance in Sin City…

Not as raw or violent as the first installment, Sin City 2 hasn’t forgotten the key to its success with audiences and critics. The movie’s singular, recognizable chromatic tones are back, with touches of color flashing into the black and white palette. Well-directed, with a good selection of new actors joining Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson and Jessica Alba, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is a sure to meet the expectations of those who saw the first movie. For the more observant among the audience: keep your eyes open for the cameo of a singing superstar.
