The saga continues. This time, the bad guy is an English hitman out for revenge after Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his team killed his brother in Fast & Furious 6. Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) vows not to rest until he has destroyed them all. This time, the job is the repatriation of a top secret prototype for the American government – a cutting-edge geo-locator they use to flush out the elusive Shaw before he hits again.

This action thriller takes out the heavy artillery for an in-your-face spectacle: cars are parachuted out of a plane, jump across high-rises in Abu Dhabi, are aided by drones during an explosive chase through the streets of Los Angeles. Director James Wan (who resurrected horror flicks with Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring) offers a Fast & Furious that is more insane than ever, with a pounding soundtrack and scenes sure to become legendary in the eyes of fans. It also contains the last appearance by Paul Walker, who died at the end of 2013 in a car accident, as if fiction had met real life. The movie pays homage to the actor with one overblown action scene after another. Too much? Nope! This is the Fast & Furious franchise, after all, where one movie is surpasses the next. And even if the plot is more pretext for chase than real intrigue, the result is a success.
