La volante
On the way with his pregnant wife to the hospital, Thomas runs over a boy who dies a few hours later in the same place his son Leo is born. Nine years later, separated from his wife, Thomas gets a new secretary, Marie-France. Helpful, attentive and generous, Marie-France slowly insinuates herself into his life until she is the most important person in it. But Thomas doesn’t know she’s really the mother of the boy he killed, and that she is out for revenge…
The third movie by Christophe Ali and Nicolas Bonilauri begs the question of how on earth a movie that is so inconsistent and devoid of imagination can exist. Apart from seeing Natalie Baye take on a role against type, one that is darker than what she’s used to playing, there seems to be no point to this uninteresting, low-rent thriller that would better serve as a late night TV movie to help the sleepless. The screenplay holds no surprises, the dialogue is uninspired and the few attempts at strong scenes are unsuccessful. La Volante is too obviously a prefabricated flick. Next.
