Iran, a small city on the Caspian Sea. Recently divorced after years of supporting the drug problems of her husband, Nahid lives alone with her 10-year-old son, trying to survive despite big financial problems. According to Iranian tradition custody goes to the father, but the latter agrees she can have him on one condition: that she does not remarry. But Nahid is in love with another man, who wants to marry her...

A divorce, a child who is both witness and victim, the weight of Iranian policies: it’s hard not to think of Asghar Farhadi’s A Separation. With the same urgency of emotions, this film about trivial things and muted violence is a fine portrait of Iran, and specifically the role of its women. Although the plot lacks real strength, Nahid remains true to its central character, forcefully played by Sareh Bayat. She is a woman full of contradictions, difficult to understand and love, but profoundly beautiful and human. It is because she refuses to make a single victim or martyr out of her characters that Iranian filmmaker Ida Panahande allows her film to overcome its weaknesses.
