Robin des Bois, la véritable histoire

Movie Rating: Geoffrey Crété

Behind the legend of Robin Hood is Robin, a dumb thief who steals from the poor, women and the old with the help of faithful Tuck. His only dream: to buy back his friend Alfred’s whorehouse. To get the necessary funds, he decides to hold up the tax collectors of the Sherriff of Nottingham, who rules the region with an iron fist. When by chance they meet a band of merry men from Sherwood Forest who also have their eye on the money, they team up for the heist…

Robin des Bois : La véritable histoire is not a bad movie, it’s an awful, monumentally stupid movie that makes you think. Because the story has had the lifeblood sucked out of it by Max Boublil, who spends his time talking about how ugly Maid Marian is, the only woman in the movie who isn’t a prostitute, when he’s not amusing himself with gay subtext. When he releases a “little fag” with a stupid smile in one scene, it’s obvious that this version of Robin Hood is more than just profoundly boring, it doesn’t deserve any respect from the public. This movie by Anthony Marciano is clearly a Monty Python wannabe, but it has neither their finesse nor their brilliant silliness. Without a doubt one of the most shameful movies of the year, this veritable catastrophe deserves only one thing: to be forgotten forever.
