In many respects, modern horror has become a duty for optimistic fans of the genre. Almost three years after The Woman in Black starring Daniel Radcliffe, whose success resuscitated the legendary Hammer studios, this false sequel is unnecessary, choreographed within an inch of its life to the point where it lacks its own identity – from the inept supporting characters armed with simplistic morals, to the grotesque, final sacrifice used as a solution to cowardly trauma that is explained in crude dialogue. Not really scary except for a few tasteless jolts filmed with a laziness that implies cynicism on the part of the movie makers of this awful franchise. Hopefully the Woman in Black will haunt them to the grave.
