Sixteen years after the disappearance of his sister Heather, who investigated the legend of the Blair Witch with a camera and two friends in a forest, James is still looking for answers. When he finds a strange internet video shot in the forest in question, he is convinced he’s found traces of Heather. With several friends and different cameras, he explores the area to find the key to the puzzle. But the group gets lost in and is soon confronted by strange phenomena...

In 1999, The Blair Witch Project created a sensation with nothing but a camera and a ton of ingenuity. Love it or hate it, the movie by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez was a milestone in horror cinema, modernizing the genre of found footage, which has since been repeated in movies like Paranormal Activity and Cloverfield. 17 years later, and against all expectations (it was shot in secret under a false title) Blair Witch is back, with the very trendy director Adam Wingard (You're Next) at the helm. The formula is almost identical: a group of friends camping in a mysterious forest experience scary noises in the dark and an abandoned house, with images filmed by the characters themselves embedded into the story. Fans will not be disappointed with this pseudo remake that provides some nice thrills, offers a lot of suspense and adds some very good ideas to the original mythology. By failing to reinvent anything, Wingard perfectly fulfills his mission.
