Brice 3
The world has changed, but Brice has not. When his best friend Marius calls for help, the surfer rushes to his aid, embarking on a journey across the world. The destination is an island paradise where an unexpected adventure awaits...
Brice 3 prompts two reactions. On the one hand, it’s amazingly funny and unique enough in its willingness to push limits, in its complete absurdity that takes pleasure in playing with form and substance and disobeying the codes of the genre. On the other hand, it’s exasperating when the balance is upset, when laughter gives way to boredom, and when the off-beat, colorful movie turns into an endless comedy sketch. James Huth, who also directed the first installment, is talented in crafting the adventure, with a handful of humorous scenes and homage references. But the script is sub-par and despite some absurd flashes of genius, Brice 3 proves that the dumb surfer gag works best in small doses, not throughout a whole 90-minute movie.
