In high school, Calvin Joyner was the cool dude and Robbie Wheirdicht was an obese geek who was bullied by everyone. Twenty years later, Calvin is a lowly accountant in a large company, worried by about going to his high school reunion. When Robbie, now called Bob Stone, contacts him to meet up in memory of the good old days, Calvin accepts. What he doesn’t know is that Robbie has become a ripped and eccentric giant, who is about to drag him along on a dangerous CIA mission…

One of the mistakes the makers of Central Intelligence made was releasing their movie just a few months after The Nice Guys, Shane Black’s excellent, inventive buddy pic starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. In comparison, this movie by Rawson Marshall Thurber (We’re the Millers), starring Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson is embarrassing, stupid and shrill, trying to hide its faults behind a plethora of car chases and shoot-outs, even as it attempts to be as funny and smart as 21 Jump Street. But the weaknesses nevertheless stand out and result in a mediocre, soulless big budget flick whose only virtue is the now unmistakable comedic talent of Dwayne Johnson. All that remains for Johnson is to find a really good script – his brief scene with Melissa McCarthy in a cameo points to the possibility of a much more funny movie.
