A brilliant neurosurgeon, arrogant and sure of his exceptional talent, Stephen Strange’s life changes dramatically following a car accident that leaves him unable to work. While trying every possible means to regain normal use of his hands, he travels to Nepal to find the mysterious Ancient One, who is endowed with extraordinary powers. This magician teaches him the art of handling dimensions, seeing beyond the physical world, and opening up incredible opportunities. What can we expect from the seemingly endless stream of Marvel productions that began 8 years ago, now total 13 movies and include future projects that extend to at least 2020? Those looking for surprises and excitement will surely be disappointed and frustrated. Those who just want to have fun will be happy. More successful than Avengers: The Age of Ultron or Thor: The Dark World, less exciting than Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange is in the plus column. The mystical superhero, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, is scheduled to join the Avengers in the next batch of movies, and inhabits a visually stunning world that shines with a thousand lights and colors, opening a new perspective on the Marvel galaxy. In the minus column is the maddeningly banal plot, which simply recycles the usual characters, starting with protagonists who are less charming than usual. No matter, say fans of superhero movies: Doctor Strange is hot, Doctor Strange is funny, Doctor Strange is an adventure. Doctor Strange is good. But not better than that.
