Pension complète
François and Charlotte run a gourmet hotel and restaurant by the sea, but their marriage is not looking good: a doggedly obsessive, Francis wants his first Michelin Star, while Charlotte, in her early forties, dreams of her first child. This situation, already complicated, explodes with the arrival of Charlotte’s first husband Alex – whom everyone believed to have died in the devastating 2004 tsunami ...
A remake of La Cuisine au beurre, with Gérard Lanvin in the role of Fernandel and Frank Dubosc in that of Bourvil, which reunites the duo from the first episode of Camping. Pension complète is neither original nor imaginative, it is a predictable comedy, pre-calibrated and almost devoid of humor as it vaguely attempts to provide setting and context for a duel between its two protagonists. It has little or nothing to say and is exclusively for fans of the genre and of the repetitive Dubosc. The only real surprise offered by this movie is director Florent Siri, who usually makes much better films (The Nest, Hostage, L’Ennemi intime) and crafted the popular biopic My Way about Claude François. Siri seems to be taking the path of his colleague Jean-François Richet, who followed up his Mesrine two-parter with last year’s remake (not as bad as expected) of Un moment d’égarement. Hard times for ambitious French filmmakers.
