Les Tuche 2 - Le rêve américain

Movie Rating: Geoffrey Crété

After winning the lottery, the Tuche family decides to move back to their village of Bouzolles after a stop in Monaco. Jeff buys back his factory to regain control of it with his former colleagues, Cathy resumes her domestic life, their daughter Stephanie is a soccer player’s wife in Paris, their son Wilfred dreams of being a rapper and the youngest, Donald, spends a month in Los Angeles to improve his English. When Donald tells them he wants to stay in California, the family decides to surprise him. And so they land in Los Angeles, where they discover a whole new lifestyle...

1 hour, 34 minutes and not a real laugh to be had. A tragedy for this embarrassing sequel to Les Tuche, the surprise success of 2011, which finds itself forced to provide a pretext for a second outing. A typical symptom of comedies in search of inspiration, which try to breathe new life into stereotypical formulas by changing the setting. The American family getaway gives rise to a series of gags, each one dumber than the next, stretched out along a vague plot that utilizes the usual morals of life - do not deny your roots, be yourself, enjoy your family, do not forget, accept the homosexuality of your children even if it's hard. Les Tuche 2 : Le rêve américain is your typically awful comedy whose script seems out of a photocopier, and whose existence (and success) raises serious issues about movies (and audiences).
