Since his girlfriend left him, Francky doesn’t know what to do with his life. Until his best friend Krimo offers to fly to Pattaya, the thug paradise in Thailand where his cousin works. The only way for them to get to Asia is to answer the call of the Moroccan, a Buddhist who organizes boxing matches between dwarves in his temple and is desperately seeking an opponent for his champion. And so Francky and Krimo bring along, under false pretenses, a dwarf named Karim, unaware that they will embark on an incredible adventure.

After the surprise success of 2012’s Kaïras, actor/director Franck Gastambide reworks the formula. The result is a dumb adventure full of sick jokes, sketch-like scenes and a wild animal running gag set in a sun-drenched country. It’s all reminiscent of Hangover 2 and the recent Babysitting 2, a sophomoric comedy more embarrassing than funny, which lacks effectiveness, ideas, control, imagination, daring and good taste (because even the assignment of talent is politically incorrect). Pattaya is long-winded comedy that links together just enough events and accumulates stereotypes to fill 1:37. And despite not being memorable or convincing, the movie unleashes enough energy in hopes of entertaining its audience.
