On their way home from Afghanistan to France, a group of soldiers stops in Cyprus for a few days in a five-star hotel, in the midst of tourists on vacation. This decompression chamber is supposed to allow them to slowly return to reality through psychological monitoring and help them overcome the trauma of war. A mission that is far from simple, especially for Aurora and Marine, who have been friends since childhood.

The poster, in which two female soldiers stand on the terrace of a luxury hotel pool with tourists bathing the background, perfectly portrays the clash between two worlds at the heart of the film. In the second project of Delphine and Muriel Coulin, whose highly esteemed 17 Girls was released in 2011, the second great strength is its lead actresses, Soko and especially Ariane Labed, who has repeatedly proven herself with discrete, powerful performances. The audience is captivated by their gazes, their on-edge emotions, their barely hidden cracks, despite some aspects of the movie that are a bit too superficial. The Stopover is a delicate and subtle film, confirming that the Coulin sisters are directors to watch out for.
