Baywatch
Emerald Bay, Florida. With his team of lifeguards, Mitch Buchannon uses his strength and good heart to look after the beach, always ready to help those in danger. Very popular with the local community, he organizes a competition for new recruits every year. Among the most remarkable participants are the highly committed Summer Quinn, the very awkward Ronnie and, above all, the famous daredevil Matt Brody. A war of the muscles soon breaks out between him and Mitch. But the threat of a criminal conspiracy forces them to unite so they can protect the population...
The objective is clear: to adapt a legendary TV series into an offbeat, wacky Hollywood comedy aimed at the general public starring two popular actors – Baywatch 2017 openly steals the 21 Jump Street formula. Starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron in the roles of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, Seth Gordon's Baywatch should have struck gold. Except that the movie was panned by critics and shunned by the public. That’s because it thinks it’s more clever and original than it is. Its many jokes are predictable and the tone is more conventional than it pretends to be. Far from being as absurd and fun as 21 Jump Street, Baywatch is in the end too serious, especially thanks to its superficial plot and a surprising lack of irony when characters start talking about life, love and honor.
