In 2049 Los Angeles, K is an LAPD officer in charge of tracking down and disabling old models of replicants, a series of advanced humanoid robots. The discovery of a mysterious box hidden by one of them sets him off to discover the secrets of Neander Wallace, the head of the company that created the replicants.

The Ridley Scott film, released in 1982 and adapted from the novel by Philip K. Dick, has since become a cult classic of science fiction. With Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival) at the helm, the sequel showed great promise, and the Canadian filmmaker perfectly embraces the dizzying dimension of the futuristic universe: incredible scenery, captivating colors, fabulous artistic direction. The journey is full of fantastic images and scenes. Blade Runner 2049 is an unusual work that does not comply with the codes of the contemporary blockbuster, thanks to its silences, economy of action scenes, a rhythm that is in a counterpoint to current norms. The disappointment is therefore great. Because of an uneven plot that gets lost in the meanderings of a falsely complex investigation hidden behind a bunch of secondary characters, the movie does not meet up to the expectations of its marketing campaign. The result is a moderately satisfying adventure that is also a little sterile.
