1989, in the small town of Derry. One year after the unexplained disappearance of his little brother Georgie, Bill is still trying to understand what happened. As other children are also kidnapped, he believes that the key to the mystery lies in the sewers of the city. He bands together with other outcasts to form a group nicknamed The Losers’ Club. Together, they gradually come to understand that a terrifying creature is lurking in the shadows, threatening them, and that they alone can stop it...

Almost thirty years after the TV miniseries, Stephen King's superb novel "IT" is entitled to a new adaptation, from the studio behind The Conjuring and Annabelle, and the director of Mama, Andrés Muschietti *. It would be difficult, if not impossible, to live up to the great book: this is one of the best, profound and most powerful works of the writer. And although the film is unable to transmit the idea of the absolute horror incarnated by a clown from the underworld, thanks to some rather conventional horror scenes, it manages to conjure a little of King’s magic in the group of main characters. The excellent actors offer wonderful performances, most notably by Sophia Lillis and Finn Wolfhard. The famous Losers’ Club is the great strength of this adaptation: funny, tender and endearing, the little band is the heart of this nightmare and the reason the audience is transported. Fans of the genre will be moderately satisfied with this conventional nightmare, which takes the easy way out with the horror formula, but the movie’s characters are worth the detour. They give It a modest place on the list of good recent horror films, beating many of its competitors.
