The Star Trek franchise has come out with perfume and after-shave for diehard fans of the series.

Star Trek, the fragrance

Merchandising knows no limits: joining the many t-shirts, action figures and computer mice is «Star Trek» perfume.

One of the 3 fragrances is for women, called Pon Farr (slogan: «Drive him crazy»!), which refers to the Vulcan mating cycle that occurs every 7 years, when adults go into a kind of heat. Hopefully female trekkers wanting to hook up won't have to wait that long.

There are two «Star Trek» scents for men. One is Tiberius Cologne in honor of Captain Kirk – «difficult to define and impossible to refuse», says the blurb, adding: «Take Tiberius on your next mission and be transported to new worlds of sensual discovery».

The other men's cologne is called «Red Shirt», which refers to the red-shirted small parts that get killed off whenever bad guys are around. «Because tomorrow may never come.» Indeed. Red Shirt is aimed at «the young, modern man of the galaxy who doesn't hesitate; who revels in being alive today».

The add copy goes on: «Red Shirt Cologne instills confidence, showing the universe (sic!) your strength, your valor, your devotion to living each day as though it could be your last. Bright, clean and direct with top notes of green mandarin, bergamot and a hint of lavender, Red Shirt finishes strong with base notes of leather and grey musk. It's a daring men's fragrance for those brave enough to place no trust in tomorrow.»
