How to tell a story about amnesia in the cinema? Alan Parker with "Angel Heart" (1987) and Joseph Mankiewicz with "Somewhere in the Night" (1946) are among the directors who successfully tackled the problem. Christopher Nolan's film surprises us by reversing conventional plot structures. For once the spectators do not have to ask themselves "What's going to happen next?" but "Why did this happen?". A superb scenario and outstanding editing are completed with remarkable performance of Guy Pearce (brilliant in L.A. Confidential), Joe Pantoliano and Carrie-Anne Moss (both in "The Matrix").
