Just before he is supposed to succeed his father Odin (*Anthony Hopkins*), Thor (*Chris Hemsworth*) reignites an ancient war, so he is stripped of his powers and banned to earth. There he falls to the feet of a scientist named Jane (*Natalie Portman*) and her team. At first reluctant, they help the blond god of thunder in his search for his powerful hammer, catching the attention of several dark secret agents. But danger also comes from Asgard, where a conspiracy threatens not just the kingdom, but all mankind.
