Well, well. It seems Angelina Jolie has a subscription to Forbes' lists. After her nomination as the most powerful woman in the world last month, Brad Pitt's partner gets the top spot on the American magazine's highest-earning actresses.
Compiled using information gleaned from agents, managers, producers and lawyers, the list also takes into account estimated revenues from auxiliary merchandise, such as fashion brands or perfume.
Angelina Jolie lands first with $27 million, mostly made up of blockbuster «Wanted», which she co-produced, and a hefty upfront fee from her next action film, «Salt», in which she plays a CIA agent accused of spying for the Russians.
Happy second with $25 million, Jennifer Aniston enjoys high box-office returns from romantic comedy «Marley & Me» added to her leading role fee from «The Baster», a comedy about a single woman trying to have a baby by herself. Moreover, «Friends» remaining ever popular means Brad Pitt's ex is still receiving royalties. Rounding up the top five, Meryl Streep moves up thanks to box-office success «Mamma Mia», followed by Sarah Jessica Parker and Cameron Diaz.
Nevertheless, the gap between male and female earnings widens up. Highest-earning actor Harrison Ford pulled in $65 million last year, almost 40 million more than Jolie. The actors' top ten total $393 million, compared to $183 million for the actresses. Another proof of Hollywood's misogyny.
