DVD: the beginning of the end

VOD sales are up, while DVD sales are down.

France¹s Centre national de la cinématographie (CNC) recently commissioned a study whose results show that VOD business grew by 70% during the first two months of the year.

At the same time, sales are down for the Blu Ray standard, whichprofessionals had predicted only a few months ago was the next best thing after it won out in the battle against HD DVD.

But now, only a short time later, it seems VOD is taking over faster than previously assumed, with the numbers for VOD passing those of DVD this year already.
