Fired for not having a college degree, the model employee of a supermarket goes to university.

Expecting yet another employee-of-the-month certificate, model employee Larry Crowne (Tom Hanks, who also directed) gets fired from the supermarket where he works instead, and only because he can't produce a college degree. Refusing to be discouraged, Larry decides to go back to school to study economics – and falls for his professor (Julia Roberts) who isn't just smart and funny, but also completely enchanting. At the same time, he makes friends with the turbulent Talia (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and learns to adapt to a new future for himself.

Sweet romantic comedy and satire about our society, which is addicted to new technology, stressed by the race for diplomas and numbed by television. Tom Hanks again plays the good guy full of ideas (as in Steven Spielberg's Terminal). All in all entertaining, if only somewhat mildly critical.
