A traumatized cattleman who deals in animal hormones meets the childhood friend who witnessed his ordeal.

Jacky is a Flemish cattleman who deals in animal hormones. Disquieting and taciturn but also capable of violence, he injects himself with the illegal substances meant for his cattle to try and deal with a traumatic event that occurred in his childhood. When a cop assigned to investigate hormone trafficking is killed, Jacky negotiates with the boss of the business, whose right-hand man - actually an undercover cop - is a former childhood friend who witnessed Jacky's trauma.

Rural thriller with elements of modern tragedy, Bullhead is a shocking film sure to affect audiences. The stylized directing reinforces the sleazy ambiance, as do the quiet violence, the suffocating darkness and the degenerate characters that populate the plot. Moving, upsetting, but only for forewarned audiences.
