A shy bodybuilder seeks true love in Thailand - without the knowledge of his overprotective mother.

Dennis is a big, impressive bodybuilder of 38 who nonetheless is shy, has never had a girlfriend and still lives with his mother. But he wants to change his life, and when his uncle marries a Thai woman, Dennis is sure he will find the woman of his dreams in Pattaya. His mother is extremely jealous, so he doesn't tell her of his plans. He goes to Thailand and soon realizes how naïve his view of love is. And then he meets Toi.

Mads Matthiesen's first feature film is based on a short which also starred Kim Kold as the bodybuilder. Teddy Bear is a character study that is interesting in some aspects, but it takes place far from reality. Matthiesen manages to make the bodybuilder accessible but can't make the audience believe in the story.
