Matthias Schweighöfer plays Sascha, who supports himself by driving a taxi after he quits med school. When he finds out his on-again, off-again girlfriend Lina is pregnant, he has an accident and ends up in the hospital. Where he has to share a room with an 87-year-old chatterbox named Ella. He finds out the doctors plan to operate on her despite her heart problems, so he first takes her home with him – and then on a road trip. Along the way, Ella helps Sascha get his life in order as they travel in search of her past.

As Daniel Brühl targets international stardom, his contemporary Matthias Schweighöfer, who has a similar boyish charm, is busy concentrating on the German market. While he’s also tested the waters in Hollywood, Schweighöfer is currently more interested in becoming a household name at home in local blockbusters like this one.
