Verliebte Feinde
Iris and Peter von Roten - arguably Switzerland's most famous and provocative couple.
A lawyer and feminist from Basel, Iris Meyer, later Iris von Roten, caused a stir in 1958 for her book "Frauen im Laufgitter", in which she demanded the economic, political and sexual equality between men and women. As a judge and national councilor from Valais, Peter von Roten also fought for equality between the sexes. They carried this over into their relationship, added free love and were controversial in the bigoted society they moved in.
Verliebte Feinde is based on Wilfried Meichtry's biography of the same name. With a successful mix of feature film, archival footage and contemporary interviews, it tells the story of two people who tried to live their lives despite the contrasting views of those around them.
