Radin!
Since his childhood, Francois Gautier has been a complete penny pincher. He saves on electricity and toothpaste, avoids spending to the point where he is hated by others, and has built his life around saving money at any price. But all of these certainties are called into question when Francois meets Laura, the daughter he never knew he had. Starting off with a big lie to cover up his true nature, the François is forced to become a better, more generous person...
Two years after playing a hypochondriac in Supercondriaque, Dany Boon returns as a cheapskate in Radin!, this time directed by someone else. The recipe is as clear as the French title suggests: the movie is a comedy aimed at a wide audience, which hides a simplified plot behind a popular, super-hammy actor to better digest a dumb story full of gags with an uninteresting moral. Only for die-hard Dany Boon fans, this impersonal movie is regular fare for unartistic director Fred Cavayé (Anything For Her, The Players, Mea Culpa). Luckily, the excellent Laurence Arné adds a little bit of freshness to this farce that is neither very funny nor very entertaining, instead destined to be immediately forgotten.
