David Mamet remakes «Anne Frank» Disney
Strange bedfellows: Disney is remaking the tragic story of Anne Frank, and its choice of director is screenwriter and filmmaker David Mamet, best known for odd but brilliant works like «House of Games» and «Heist».
Anne Frank's diary, which she wrote while hiding from the Nazis with her family in Amsterdam until she was taken away to Bergen-Belsen where she died has been adapted for several plays and movies, including the 1959 movie «The Diary of Anne Frank», which won the best film Oscar.
Mamet will not only use Frank's diary as a source, but also the play by Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich. It will be the director's own interpretation of Frank's development from girl to young woman.
