Hollywood up to date with Twitter

More and more celebrities are using Twitter to make direct contact with their thousands of fans.

Hollywood has understood the advantages of this revolutionary communication tool, which allows users to write brief updates or photos that «followers» can view on their PDAs, phones or the Internet. With followers including the press, there's no further need to issue releases or try to «avoid» the paparazzi for publicity. And they get to do so in their own words, which can't be taken out of context.

Celebs are increasingly getting on board: a photo of a scantily clad Demi Moore, taken and posted by Ashton Kutsher, has given the retired actress more exposure than she has had in years.

Others use the site to get frustration off their chest, as director Jon Favreau reports daily on his insomnia and Gwyneth Paltrow's body from the set of «Iron Man 2».

And while some stars write their own tweets, others are hiring publicists to do it for them: a few months ago, Britney Spears announced she now has a specialist to handle communication on Twitter and Facebook.
