Romantic-economic documentary
«It will be the perfect date movie.» Is this how Michael Moore is hoping to attract audiences to his next documentary, titled «Capitalism: a Love Story»?
Recycling Hollywood romantic drama clichés, the documentary «has got it all – lust, passion, romance and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day. It's a forbidden love, one that dares not speak its name. Heck, let's just say it: it's capitalism.»
More seriously, Michael Moore is hoping to explore «the disastrous impact that corporate dominance and out-of-control profit motives have on the lives of Americans and citizens of the world.»
The US release of the film is planned for October 2nd, a year and a day after the controversial Senate decision of bailing out private American banks. It will also mark the 20th anniversary of «Roger and Me», Moore's first documentary. The filmmaker was awarded a Golden Palm in 2004 for «Fahrenheit 9/11» and an Oscar in 2003 for «Bowling for Columbine».
