Sean Penn trashed

Interviewed about her thoughts on Sean Penn winning an Oscar, his 1988 «Colors» co-star, Venezuelan Maria Conchita Alonso, did not mince words.

«He's an amazing actor, I can't take that away from him. It's just that he has no clue at all what's going on in Venezuela. He's praising Hugo Chavez, who's a killer and a dictator. I tried to put aside his political thing that he has no clue (about), so he should just shut up about what he doesn't know.»

The actress' ire is only the tip of the iceberg. The admiration that some Hollywood personalities have – Oliver Stone, Danny Glover, Benicio Del Toro, and of course Sean Penn – for the South American leader, has annoyed many in the US.

Conservatives also stress the recent support Penn has shown for gays with his Oscar win for «Milk», pointing out it doesn't add up with his respect for the Venezuelan government, given that Chavez' friend and political idol, Fidel Castro, imprisoned and executed gays by the thousands during his reign, declaring «There are no homosexuals in Cuba.»
