The tide turns against Polanski
A few rare voices in Hollywood speak out in favor of the arrest of Roman Polanski as the tide turns.
Although most people in Hollywood are outraged at the arrest of Roman Polanski, a few rare stars have taken the other side: a crime being a crime, the French-Polish director should face punishment.
Political commentator Bill Maher and comedian Chris Rock are among the minority of celebrities who think it is good that Polanski is in Swiss custody and awaiting possible extradition to the States.
Bill Maher, the writer and star of «Religulous», stated that this is just one more reason why fundamentalist Muslims see the US as a decadent society that needs to be destroyed. Chris Rock, meanwhile, compared the Polanski case with that of OJ Simpson, by referencing the director's career and that of the football player's before he became an actor:
«People are defending Roman Polanski because he made some good movies? Are you kidding me? He made good movies 30 years ago, Jay! Even Johnnie Cochran didn't have the nerve to go, 'Well, did you see O.J. play against New England?'»
